Win 11 Toggle Rounded Corners

Windows 11 came forth as a surprise to many: Windows 10 was already working well enough, and there seemed to be little need for a new iteration from Microsoft, at least at that moment in time. A new operating system from Microsoft thus came into being, and with it, a few decisions — particularly design-related ones — were a tad unpopular, to say the least.

Among those decisions, as a departure from the boxier Windows 10 design, rounded corners were introduced — with no option to turn off or modify them. If rounded corners aren't your thing, then Win 11 Toggle Rounded Corners can get rid of them for you.

This is a small utility, geared towards users who wish to eliminate the rounded corners from their Windows 11. The tool is decidedly simple, only requiring the user to simply run it. There's no interface, and no options to configure: run the program, and the rounded corners will disappear immediately.

There isn't much else to the utility, as it does exactly as it says, without needing the user to do anything complicated — rather, the user has to do nothing at all, outside of launching the tool.

The way it works is it changes a value within Windows' Desktop Window Manager, which makes it possible to disable the rounded window corners for one's system.

A small problem is that, upon rebooting your computer, there's a chance of the rounded window corners reappearing, even after applying the fix. This is owed to the behavior of the aforementioned Desktop Window Manager, but users can circumvent this by having the app automatically run on Windows startup.

As such, Win 11 Toggle Rounded Corners gives an option that should've been there from the start. Needing to use a third-party utility to disable rounded corners isn't a good look for Microsoft and Windows 11, but at least the utility works well.
