The customization of the operating system is an activity that dates back to the days of the first releases of Microsoft proprietary OS. Even the innovative Windows 98, when it came out it could have used some graphical enhancements which emerged, eventually, in other iterations.
For the aficionados of this particular environment, several transformation packs were developed then and one of the most appreciated is Windows 98 Revolutions Pack. Especially tailored for the Second Edition (best known as Windows 98 SE), this set of enhancements goes a bit beyond the simple, surface changes and makes some modifications under the hood as well.
Quite a bit of the practicality and improved looks of Windows XP are encapsulated in this package which requires only a bit of attention when it comes to the installation order of the components.
Besides the XP-styled Start button and boot logo, Windows 98 Revolutions Pack will enable yo to use 32-bit icons inside the old operating system. The toolbar and pretty much all the visual elements will be changed so they resemble those from Windows XP.
Other enhancements brought about by this bundle relate to menus effects, which can now fade in and fade out, as well as to transparent labels that will surely make the OS even more attractive.
The modifications that concern the functionality of Windows 98 SE are not to be overlooked by no means because they really make this operating system more friendly and give more control to the user.
Thus, Windows 98 Revolutions Pack will replace the antiquated 'Close Program' dialog that appears when pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del with a more appropriate utility that is better suited for resource management. Also, the desktop icons can now be aligned to grid and the taskbar locked.
To sum things up, this package will certainly make the experience of using Windows 98 SE a more pleasant one, thanks to the many useful enhancements it brings.
