WTware is a cool Windows Terminal Services Client that helps you boot diskless computers over a network. It’s super handy if you’re looking to set up terminals without needing hard drives!
This WTware package comes with everything you need to get started: the operating system, drivers, network services, and the terminal services client. So, no need to hunt around for different software!
You can use any PC from an old 486 with just 8MB of RAM up to modern machines as terminals. Since it’s based on the Linux kernel, it’s more reliable than many other options out there.
The best part? Setting up a working model with network boot takes only about 10 minutes if you follow the step-by-step manual! Plus, it has great graphic performance thanks to its improved visualization algorithms.
All your settings are stored in one well-documented text file. And guess what? You don’t need any extra servers for a diskless WTware terminal network boot; everything is included right in the Windows Server distribution!
This setup allows network booting without relying on local hard drives. It supports three graphics libraries: SVGALib, Linux Kernel Framebuffer, and XFree86 X Window System.
You can use various screen resolutions with color depth of up to 24 bits! WTware supports common video cards, sound cards, USB printers, keyboards (DIN, USB, PS/2), and even barcode scanners.
No worries about mouse support either! WTware works with COM, USB, PS/2 mice and wheel-mice. It can also handle floppy drives and IDE ATAPI CD-ROM drives along with most USB memory storage devices like flash cards.
The session is limited to just 20 minutes. Keep that in mind when you're setting things up!
This version added 11 new Linux Kernel Framebuffer video drivers along with some neat interface improvements. If you're looking for an easy-to-use solution for your terminal needs, check out WTware here!
